FEILDING CLUB. The new committee of the Feilding Lawn Tennis Club met on Monday night and decided that the official opening day will be held this month. Fourteen new members were elected, and it was reported that several more nominations were expected before the season opened. Sub-committees were elected as follow:—Ground committee, Messrs S A. Cover and C. H. Tate; match committee, Messrs J. L. Webster, AY. Patton, F. W. Cover, Misses D. Sargisson and L. Rutherford; afternoon tea committee. Misses D. Sargisson, B. Eliott, L. Rutherford and Mrs S. A. Gover; captain, Air J. L. AA’ebster. The ground committee reported that, as a direct result of the tiledraining scheme recently carried out. the courts were able to be kept cut right through the winter months. The courts had also been subject to heavy rolling and top-dressing, with the result that they were in very fine condition. It. was decided to enter an A grade team in the Manawatu inter-club competitions. The match committee' was instructed to draw up a programme of friendly inter-club matches. The president (Air Tate) indicated that the prospects for the coming season were particularly bright, the courts being well up to standard, and the membership being well maintained.
