FAREWELL PARTY.

DR D. GILLIES ENTERTAINED. Dr E. Denny Gillies, who is leaving for a two months’ visit to Australia on Friday, was the guest of honour at a party "given by Mrs EL. G. Bagnail, of Te Awe Awe Street, yesterday afternoon. The drawing-room was charmingly decorated with large bowls of Christmas roses, pink camellias and ijaponica. In the dining room, where tea was served, masses of jonquils were arranged, and on the tea table a bowl of polyanthus and grape hyacinths was a delightful not of colour. Mrs Bagnall received her guests wearing a black afternoon frock. She was assisted by Mrs Gordon Bagnall, who wore navy blue. Dr Gillies had chosen a navy summer weight ensemble and a navy hat and smart cape of dyed .squirrel tails. Among those present were Mesdames N. Blackniore, L. B. Wall, A. Cftuy, McLean, G. Y. Woodward, C. Handley, Macpherson, F. Forrest, P. Daw id son (Foxton), Misses West, S. Macpherson, McCrae and Whyte.
