MANAWATU CLUB. . At tlie Hokowhitu links, yesterday, a bogey competition was played by ladies of, the Manawatu Golf Club, who were handicapped by. somewhat boisterous’,weather. The following were the best cards handed in:—
First Division (handicaps 17 and under).— M. Illston (8), 3 down; Miss S. Thomson -(14), 6 down; Miss N. Smillie (Id), 7 down; Miss It. Rutledge (13), 7; down; Mrs T. S. Buxton (15), 7 dpwn. Second Division (handicaps 18 to 27). —Mrs It. -Hooper (25), 2 down; Miss N. Nash '(18). 7 down; Mrs A. C.~ Espiner (22),\7 down ; Mrs S. Goldingham (20), 8 down.
C! Grade Medal Round (over 14 holes). —Mrs W. W. Smith, 91 —21—70; Mrs C. S. Williams, 108—36—72; Mrs A. E. Pimvill, 112—36—76; Mrs S. Jones, 106—28—78. There was a tie for the August bogey competition and in the play-off Miss S. Thomson proved the winner. CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. On Monday the semi-finals were reached in the club championships, with the following results:— Senior.! —Miss.l. Seifert beat Mrs L. Speochlov, 4 and 2; Mrs D. V. Stewart beat Mrs Gordon Brown, 2 and 1. Intermediate.—Mrs Duncan Cook beat Mrs C. King, 1 up; Mrs G. W. Dixon beat Mrs K. fnnes, 2 and 1. Junior.—Mrs T. Pullar beat Mrs R. Hooper, 4 and 3; Miss P. Macdonald beat Mrs ;fl. Pringle, 2 up. The finals will be played next Monday afternoon. Members of the Manawatu Ladies’ Golf Club who intend to participate in the tournament at Dnnnevirkc opening on Friday this week include Mesdames L. Speeciiley, H. Whitehead, E. Wimsett, D. V,. Stewart, K. Innes. M. A. Eliott, C. Tting, T. Pullar, Misses P. and S. Macdonald and I. Seifert.' Miss M. l Tllston handed in a good card registering an 84 gross, yesterday. Considering the boisterous conditions and heavy going this was a creditable effort. Miss Illston played beautiful golf and her recent trip across the Tasman and the experience in Australia have stood her in good stead.
PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB. | The following are the results of the competitions played by the members of the Palmerston North Ladies’ Golf Club yesterday,: Bogey.—A'Section : Miss I. Jepson, 2 down; Miss J. Curd, 2 down; Mrs E. Wilson, 4 down. Miss Jepson won on the count-back. B Section : Mrs C. Anderson, 8- down; Mrs G. Goodwin, 9 down; Mrs J. Johnston, 11 down. Points.—C Section, over 9 holes.— Mrs P. Hutchins, 57 —20 —37 ; 4 points. Miss N. Grant, 66—28—38 ; 3 points. Miss J. Ramsay, 59 —15 —44; 2 points. Mrs I. Richards, 82—30—52; 1 point.
