UNFAVOURABLE BALANCE. WASHINGTON, Aug. 24. It is announced that for the first half of the year 1938, British imports from the United States increased by 34 per cent. Exports decreased by 47.6 per cent., giving an excess of £50,889,000 of imports over exports, compared with an excess of £24,138.000 over a similar period last year.'
