CONTINUING IN OFFICE. Received August 24, 12.50 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 23. The Salvation Army leader, General Evangeline Booth, is continuing in office until the end of October, 1939, in response, to widespread appeals.

On August 16 the Daily . Mail said that there was much speculation in the Salvation Army regaining the successor to General Evangeline Booth, who, according to an Ac-t of Parliament,’ must by August 25 make a statement clarifying the succession to the Generalship. Several names had been groposed, including Miss Catherine both, the 55-ycar-old niece of General Evangeline Booth, but it was learned authoritatively that General Booth’s term would probably be extended a year.
