The Daily Telegraph’s Saragossa correspondent says that, after t month of most violent and costly fighting on the Ebro front, there are convincing signs that General Franco’s forces are beginning to gain the upper hand. The artillery and aircraft have pounded the slowly crumbling Government defences all day. The Government forces, however, are putting up grim resistance. ,

INSURGENT ’PLANES. • Received August 24, 12.59 a.m. BARCELONA, Aug. 23. Insurgent ’planes to-day raided Sagunto and several small coastal towns. A Junker ’plane was shot down alt sea and the German occupants rescued.
