INAUGURATION OF SCHEME. '' Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, June 25. The Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage) announced to-day that a full Empire airmail service to Australia, carrying all letters at a pennyhalfpenny per lialf-ounce, will commence by a flying-boat from Southampton on July, 28. From that date Imperial Air-ways and Qantas Empire Airways will be traversing the whole route between Southampton and Sydney, and will be carrying New Zealand mail. The first flying-boat carrying mail on the “all-up” basis of a penny-half-penny per half-ounce is expected to leave Sydney on August 9. This will mean that all mail for the United Kingdom and Empire points posted after the regular despatch -by the Aorangi leaving Auckland on July 12 will be despatched via Sydney and placed on the Empire flying-boat.
