WEEK-END ACCIDENTS.
CARS IN COLLISION. An accident , which might have had more serious consequences occurred at the corner of Church and Princess Streets shortly after one o’clock yesterday. two cars —one driven by Mr J. F. Field, of Linton Street, and the other by Mr T. L. Fitzsimons—bejng involved in a collision. Mr Fitzsimr ons’s car was of a light type and it suffered the worst, finishing up with the wheels in the air, but the occupants, Mr Fitzsimons, his sister and two young brothers, scrambled out through the broken -windows with ha.rdlv a scratch. The larger car was practically undamaged, but the 6mall vehicle suffered considerably. A little earlier yesterday there was another collision of a less serious nature. Two cars were proceeding along Broadway and when the leading driver essayed to turn round a collision occurred. Nobody was. injured, but the second car'was considerably damaged. The driver of the first car was Mr D. G. Riddiford, of Svdnev Street, Palmerston North, while the second car was driven bv Mr J. R. F. Ganderton, of Regent Street. On Saturday afternoon at the Showgrounds there was an urgent call for a doctor, it being stated that a bandsman had been injured. However, it was found that the young man was suffering only from shock as the result of slipping and falling. No bones were broken. . On Saturday evening Mr Henry Arthur Pickin, ,of Lombard Street, was involved in a- collision with a car driven bv Mr E. K. Ticehurt, of Carterton, in Cuba Street. He suffered only minor injuries.
