MANAWATU ASSOCIATION. INTER-CLUB MATCHES. Following the postponement the week before, owing to bad weather, inter-club matches in the Manawatu Cricket Association’s competitions were resumed on Saturday. Very light showers of rain fell in the course of the afternoon, but soon after the conclusion of play a heavier shower was experienced, thus fulfilling the promise ma.do by dark clouds which had affected the light in the last hour. In the senior A grade Old Boys .amassed 241 runs against United and then got four United batsmen out for 66 runs at stumps. Palmerston dismissed City, who were one man short, for 89 runs, and at the close of play had 183 runs on for four wickets. On the High School ground the home beam were all out for 124 and Y.M.C.A. had 278 runs on for eight wickets when the day’s activities closed. In the scenior B division Kia Toa made 343 and Old Boys have 6 wickets down for 54 runs; Y.M.C.A. compiled 216 and Combined Services have 87 runs for four wickets down; and United beat City (who had but eight batsmen) by an innings. Massey College beat H. L. Young’s by an innings and 66 runs in the junior A section. United’s first innings went to 123, Kia Toa’s to 126 and United’s second stands at 56 for 3 wickets. Old Boys put on 62 against Combined Services, who replied with 144. At stumps Old Boys had five wickets down for 21 runs. Against Optimists, High School made 129, and Optimists replied with 116. The play in the junior B grade resulted in wins for Y.M.C.A., United and Cook’s. .
