(From Our Own Crrespondent) SHANNON, Fob. 24. At tho Borough Council meeting a motion of sympathy was passed to the . relatives of those who had lost their lives in the recent Wairoa disaster. The Health Inspector reported that during January one case of diphtheria had occurred. It was arranged that all staff holidays take place during January. Tho town clerk was appointed to represent the council at the Municipal Conference at New Plymouth. AJr J. A. Roach has returned after a two months’ holiday spent in the Auckland district. Mr It. Waring-Taylor,. chairman of directors of the Shannon Dairy Coy., Ltd., has returned homo from private hospital, but is still confined to his bed. At tho meeting of tho School Dental Clinic Committee, Nurse Gardner reported that for January 128 children had received attention. The opinion was expressed that all children attending the schools ill the clinic area should receive dental treatment. The expenditure for tho year was estimated at £2B and this is to be appoitioned between Shannon, Opiki, and iokomaru. I. Hcmmingson has won the bowling singles championship and will represent the club at the centre games on Saturday.
