JAPANESE HEROES
HAILED BY PRESS. RETURN TO TOKIO. CHINESE BOMB FORMOSA. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received February 24, 8.5 a.m. TOKIO, Feb. 23. It is officially reported that the Emperor’s uncle, Lieutenant-General Prince Yasuhiko, General Asaka and Lieutenant-General Yanagawa have been recalled from Shanghai. General Hata has replaced General Matsui, but no reasons have been given. Conservatives have long advocated the recall of General Asaka, whom they blamed for the Japanese excesses at. Nanking. The newspapers hail the trio as heroes. An. Imperial dinner is being arranged in their honour at Shanghai. Seven Chinese aeroplanes this morning carried the war into Japanese territory, raiding Formosa. They dropped ten bombs on the aerodrome at Taihoku, the island’s capital. The Japanese admit that their property has suffered considerably. TEN KILLED; 30 INJURED. Received February 24, 9.35 a.m. TOKIO, Feb. 23. It is reported that ten persons were killed and thirty injured in the Taihoku air raid.
