WOODVILLE, Dec. 21. The Mayor (Air H. P. Horne) and the chairman, of the School Committee (Mr R. R. Johnston) distributed the prizes at the ceremony which marked the end of the third term for the pupils of the Woodville School. Mr Horne was accompanied by Mrs Horne. The dux prize was presented to Dorothy Peebles, the committee’s prize for the runner-up being presented to Nancy Young. The following certificates were presented: Higher leaving, Douglas ' G. Middleton. Senior free place, Daisy Kee Sue, Margaret Hares, Larry Hanlon, Vernon Coulter, Reginald Boyd, Harry Leslie, Ray McLachlan, Rueh Vickers. Primary school, Ivan Arlidge, Norman Bullot, Robert Fulton, Mavis Hardy, K. Harris, Noel Hickson, D’Arcy Knapp, Hector Mac Lean, Ronald Morris, E. O’Neil, George Slack, Christina Clark, Sonia Desmond, June Dunstall, Irene Hayes, Nola May, Marjorie McKinlay, Patricia Oxenham, Dorothy Peebles, June Pilcher, Shirley Sinclair, N. Stewart, Lenna Smith, Kathleen Single, Doreen Watkins, Shirley Warnock, Nancy Young. When a tennis team representing the Kumeroa Club visited Woodville they were beaten by 137 games to 121. The final shoot for the year of the Vv'oodville Gun Club was held on Saturday afternoon. The Christmas shoot pf fen birds, which attracted 21 shooters, was won by T. Wrigley after shooting off with R. G. Smith and R. Johnston, all of whom secured the possible. The Yankee shoot was annexed by T. Wrigley also, after tieing with E. Sargent. For this shoot 22 men were on the mark. N. Prussing won the final event ot ten birds, R. Smith being second equal with C. Maekie.
