GENERAL COMMITTEE MEETS. JUDGE’S CONGRATULATIONS. ' V The general committee of the Manawatu and AVest Coast A. and P. Association met yesterday, Mr J. A. Russell presiding over a good attendance. Judge of one of the pig sections at the Royal Show, Mr F. Ogle (Normanby) wrote congratulating the association upon its very successful exhibition, and thanking the stewards for the courtesy shown to him. Dr. G. A\ T alker, of AVhangarei, also wrote expressing appreciation of the arrangements made for stock exhibitors, and commenting that the Show had been a wonderful exhibition.

Thanks were conveyed by the Te Karaka Young Farmers’ Club for free passes for the Royal Show.

The pro forma statement on the Royal Show was taken in committee, Mr J. Linklater congratulating the president and secretary (Mr H. E. ICissling) on their excellent work. The committee passed-a resolution of thanks to the AVomen’s Division of the Farmers’ Union for a donation of £ll 12s (the proceeds of the refreshment stall) to the grandstand fund, and for assistance in other directions. Appreciation was expressed of the action of the president in saving six tons of straw through putting 198 bales of unsoiled straw through the baling machine. The chief gate steward (Air T. A. Hastings) reported that the cash gate takings at the Show were a record for the Showgrounds, an amount of £212(3 5s 8d being taken, while the ticket attendances amounted to 14.659 for the three days. He expressed appreciation of the work of the staff. A special vote of thanks was accorded Dr. E. C. Barnett for assistance given at the Show in connection with the cattle pavilion, and appreciation wag voiced of the activities of the manager of the Longburn freezing works (Air Rogerson) and the chief inspector for the Meat Board (Mr J. Drysdale) for their assistance in the arrangement of the chilled beef and fat lamb classes. The season’s greetings were conveyed to the committee and office staff by the president, these sentiments being heartily reciprocated on behalf of the committee by Air T. R. Hodder.
