AFTER TRADE TREATY.

BRITAIN-U.S.A. WAR DEBT. Britain’s war debt settlement with the United States will be revised after the signing of the trade treaty between them next year, says the Daily Express, London. The Americans are expected first to ask for full payment in terms of the famous settlement negotiated in 1922 by Mr Stanley (now Earl) Baldwin. v That settlement was for £920,000.000. The Americans are expected to concede, however, that the £415,000,000 which Britain has already paid, shall rank as repayment of capital. Britain will then be asked to pay off the outstanding £505,000,000 in payments of £10.000,000 a year. It .is not stated whether under the new terms the debt shall be discharged in sterling or dollars.

The United States Department of State at Washington has, declined .to comment upon the Daily Express report.
