CRASH INTO PIER.

LINER QUEEN MARY. The liner Queen Mary crashed into a pier while docking at New York on December 1. A large crowd which had gathered to welcome passengers was endangered, but escaped without injury. No damage was done to the liner, but the force of the impact twisted the steel girders of the pier and smashed the luggage escalator. The damage to the pier is estimated at 20,000 dollars. Passengers felt no shock and were npt aware of the collision, but the pier shuddered and swayed
