PARATA CUP MATCH

OTAKI, Aug. 29

'fhe contest for the Baker Parata Memorial Cup between the Horowhenua women’s hockey representstives, holders, and Wellington, challengers, played on the Otaki Domain on Saturday, was won by Horowhenua by 7 goals to nil. Being used to the more or less smooth running of the city reserves, the Wellington players were at a loss to master the problems of playing on the uneven surface of the ground. Horowhenua were obviously used to the conditions and had it not been for excellent full-hack work on the part of Misses M. Smith and R. Walker Wellington might ’have suffered an even heavier defeat. The standard was much below expectations.
