COMPETITIONS CONTINUED. •Fine weather prevailed on Saturday afternoon, when the competitions conducted under the aegis of the Manawatu Hockey Association were continued.

A men’s senior sealed handicap competition resulted in Broadway A and Central Old Boys drawing, 2 goals to 2, and Phoenix beating Massey College by 9 goals to 0. The Broadway A v. Central Old Boys match was a very even one. Hoare scoring twice for the latter and Scales twice for Broadway. Messrs W. Lundy, and A. Packer were the umpires. Phoenix met no opposition when they played Massey College, who were below strength and well out of form. Messrs L. Martin and F. McLacldan were the umpires. In the final round of the junior championship, Massey College (6) beat Combined Services (0). Shand (4), Sill and Thomson were the scorers. Messrs W. Sutton and K. Burne umpired. Phoenix (6) beat Broadway (3). Patchett (3), Goodwin (2) and Rama netted for the winners, and O’Connell, Newman and Burrows for the losers. The umpires were Messrs W. Philp and It. Hoare. In the women’s sealed handicap competition Broadway (15) beat Public Services (0). The scorers were Misses M. Botcher (5). R. De Vantier (5), C. Rodgers (2), H. Griffen, J. Hancox and L. Davis. Mr M. A. Levy was the umpire. High School Old Girls (5) beat Manawatu Knitting Mills (3). Misses M. Kearns and 0. Thomas scored for the winners, and Miss M. McQueen (3) for the losers. The umpire was Mr W. J. Inkpen.
