NOTED FARMER DEAD.
* MR J. R. McCTJLLOCH. Per Press Association. OAMARU, July 22.' The death has occurred of Mr John Rennie McCulloch, aged 80, a farmer, who was the originator of the Ngapara Velvet variety of wheat and a noted breeder of Border Leicester sheep. Air -McCulloch was a life member of the North Ota.go A. and P. Association, a director of- the Waitaki Farmers’ Freezing Company, chairman of directors of the North Otago Farmers’ Cooperative Association, a the Oamaru Harbour Board, the Waitaki Power Board and the North Otago Farmers’ Union, a mem!>er till last vear of the Otago Land Br.-ird. chairman for 25 years of the Ngapara School Committee,"n director of other companies. and a Past Master of the Masonic Lodfe No. 68. He was born in 1857 in Wigtownshire, Scotland, and came to New Zealand in the ship William Davie in 1869. He had been a resident of* the Oamaru district since 1875. Mr McCulloch is survived by a widow also Miss McCulloch (Ngapara), Mrs Boocnck (Pietermaritzburg. Natal). Mrs Fin chain (Rangier*.), Messrs David John McCulloch (Ngapara), Thomas (Balclutha), Daniel (Dunedin) and William McCulloch (Waitahuna).
