TANGIMOANA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) TANGIMOANA, .July 19. The McKelvie Hall presented a festive appearance when tjie Ladies’ Progressive Club organised another successful dance to add to the funds for the public tennis courts they intend to lay down as a memorial to the late Mr J. F. McKelvie. The ladies had decorated the hall with festoons of green and gold, their club colours, whilst hundreds of gay coloured balloons and Chinese lanterns lent a carnival air. Part of the hall had been converted into a cosy lounge, from which non-dancers were aide to enjoy the proceedings in comfort. Just prior to the opening waltz Master Joe Devine, on be half of the club, presented the president, Mrs A. D. Scott, with a dainty bouquet. Confetti and streamers were distributed, and the balloons which had been used to enhance the decorations were allowed to waft down. The winners of the novelty dances were: Lucky Gay Gordons, Miss A. Sinclair and Mr J. V. Kyle; lucky spot, Miss Lawrence and Mr Ilvde; Monte Carlo, Mr 9 Keat and Mr Guard; statue waltz, Miss D. Bottchor and Mr B. Gardiner. 'Those present included: Mrs A D. Scott (president), in black georgette and lace; Nil’s Nelson Scott (vice-presi-dent), apple-green windswept satin, white erriiinette Coronation cape; Mrs S. E. Devine, royal red chiffon velvet; Mrs 11. J. Kirkham, black georgette and lace; 1 Mrs I. Bickinshaw, black matalnsse, with 'posy of love-in-thc-mist blue; MissQuirke, blue taffeta; Mrs R. Sinclair (Bunnythorpe), brown georgette and lace; Miss Sebelin (Palmerston North), c-ire satin cocktail suit; Miss Hart (Palmerston North), eiel blue taffeta Mrs P. L. Keat, blue radium lace; Miss, M. Fraser (Rongotea) blue taffeta; Miss B. Griffin (Marton), black taffeta; Mrs J. V. Kyle (Palmeuston North), Burgundy velvet, white fm coatee; Mrs N. Wiiiiata (Levin), black georgette; Miss A. Sinclair (Bunnythorpe), floral taffeta, white fur coatee, Miss B. Ryan (Bainesse), black velvet; Miss M. Hill (Bunnylhorpo), green crepe; Miss J. Gcorgo (Rongotea), blue cire spot satin; bliss J. Sinclair (Bunnythorpe)) pink windswept satin and silver lame, while fur coatee; Mrs R. Mclntosh (Rongotea), black and white cocktail suit; Miss Audrey 'Thompson (Palmerston North), brown velvet cocktail suit; Mrs O. YV hit—taker (Palmerston North), navy marocain; Mrs Bottcher (Rongoiea). wine satin; Miss V. Bottcher, black crepe; Miss B. Aird (Rongotea), pale pink satin ; Miss G. Eade. black matalasse and silver lame; Miss J. Fade, check fa If eta; Miss J. Winiata (Levin), pink crepe and silver lame; Miss N, Lawrence (Bunnylhorpo), dusty . pink crinkle crepe and black velvet; Miss D. Bottcher (Rongotea), blue pompadour crepe; bliss bt. Bottcher, floral chiffon georgette; Miss 0. Paris (Palmerston North), apple-green marocain; bliss E. Paris (Palmerston North), black crcpe-de-chine, Coronation red cape; Miss D. Greene (Marton), pink crinkle crepe, posy of white gardenias: Mrs Swan (Foxton), black velvet and silver lame. The ladies were again indebted to Mr R. Sinclair, of Bunnvthorpe, for the very efficient manner in which lie controlled affairs as M.G.
