SALVATION ARMY.
A very happy week-end was spent in tho celebration of the Feilding Salvation Army Corps’ 52nd anniversary. The meetings were full of fervour and happiness of spirit. On Sunday afternoon Commissioner Adams gave a very graphic address on the social work of tho Army in New Zealand, Hon. J. G. Cobbe, AI.P.. presiding. At the close of the address Colonel Scotncy thanked Air Cobbe for his presence and expressed appreciation of the kind words spoken. The Commissioner and Airs Adams had met the local soldiers at tea on the Saturday evening in which about 60 took part. On Monday night the final of tho series of meetings was held, when tho Palmerston North Band and songsters rendered an excellent programme. Alajor and Airs Searle, officers commanding tho Palmerston North Corps, accompanied tlio band, Major Searle chairing the gathering. At the close Adjutant Armstrong and Bandmaster Harford thanked tlie visitors for the very enjoyable evening. Supper was served in the young people’s hall by the sisters of the corps.
