OBITUARY.
MR J. C. STEVENS
The deatji of Mr James Charles Stevens, of "Warwick Street, Feilding, occurred at the Palmerston North Hospital on Saturday following a brief illness. Deceased was born at Poplar, London, 49 years ago, and came out to New Zealand 25 years ago. For a brief period Mr Stevens was engaged in farm work at Glen Oroua, prior to taking up his usual work, that of painting. He worked for the Railway Department for a period, first as a painter and then as a porter at Takapau. 1 His marriage to Flossie;y eldest daughter of Mr and the late' Mrs Wright', “Grassmere,” Longburn, took place ill 1923. Following his marriage he resided in Palmerston North and later came to Feilding to live nine and a half years ago. Two years ago he met with an accident and, although able to carry out his usual occupation 11 <• nail never enjoyed good health. Besides his widow, deceased leaves three children, Bertha, Bobbie and Marjory, who are all at school, two brothers, Robert (Auckland), and Charles (India), and a sister, Mrs John Stevens (England). He was a member of the Salvation Army.
