MISSIONARY AUXILIARY MEETS. PRESIDENT’S RECORD. Again elected on Thursday to the position of president of the Palmerston North branch of the Alothodist Women's Alissionary Auxiliary, Airs T. R. Plodder enters upon the 80th year in such office. This, it is thought, constitutes a record in missionary enterprise in connection with auxiliary work. Mrs A. Blakemore, to mark the occasion, and when presenting to. Airs Hodder a bouquet, congratulated hoion such a splendid record of Christian service. The president, she said, had given heart and soul,to what is seemed was her life’s happiest work. Thirty years as president of an auxiliary, she thought, was a record unequalled anywhere in New Zealand. She was loved and respected by every member and they hoped she would be aide to continue in the work for years to come. Responding, Airs Plodder said the work was a great joy to her. Others were better able, she thought. She thanked the meeting for the continued honour being accorded her and the kindness at all times-displayed. She would continue doing her best.
The secretary, Miss C. Jamieson, 1 outlining the report, stated that during a very good year of activity substantial support had been accorded the auxiliary, again enabling them to send forward both money and goods for tho furtherance of missionary work in the Solomons. The accounts showed a balance in hand which augured well for ■ the coming vear’s effort. i Presiding for the election of officers, ■ Rev. At. A. Airs Ferguson was gain placed in charge of the Christmas box which is packed and despatched each year to the Solomon Islands.
Afternoon tea was served by Airs J. Cunninghame and Airs E. G. Bennett. There were many apologies for absence, including those of Alesdames Beggs, Fisher, and Johansen, also Miss Jordan. In the meeting were representatives from Aokautere, Ashhurst, and Pohangina.
