WOMEN'S INSTITUTE.

AIEETING AT BUNNYTHORPE. The July meeting of the Bunnythorpe Women’s Institute was held this week, when there was a good attendance. Airs Jackson (president) was in the chair and welcomed a new member, Airs Kirby. An apology for absence was received from Airs Burrell. A motion of sympathy was passed to Airs Donald in her recent bereavement. A letter was read from Aliss L. Thomas tending her resignation, as she has left the district. This was accepted with regret and as this left a vacancy on the committee Aliss It. Donald was elected to take over Aliss Thomas’s place. Alembers were reminded of the bring-and-buy stall for August, as the proceeds of this are to be devoted to the federation funds. Alesdames Faulkner and Pedersen were elected as delegates to attend the group committee meeting at a later date. As the next meeting will be the institute’s birthday a social afternoon is being arranged and the birthday cake is to be out at that meeting. Reference was also made to the birthday evening in August; this will take the form of a euchre and dance, hut further particulars will be advertised. Airs Nix kindly offered to again decorate the hall for this function. Alesdames Guy, Donald and Greig offered donations of prizes and these were gratefully accepted. Mrs Jackson brought up for discussion the ways and means of reviving the drama circle and names were taken of members who were interested. A meeting will be held later in the month. The roll call, nursery rhymes, caused much njerriment. A demonstration of the making of tinsel pictures was given by Airs A, Faulkner. Airs Faulkner was accorded a hearty vote of thanks on the motion of Mrs Donald. The competition forj best worked handkerchief was very hard to judge, there being some l>eautifully worked articles. Airs L. AVoods secured first and second places for her entries. “The best bloom from myj own garden” was another problem for the judge as there was a wonderful array. Airs Faulkner was first and Airs AVoods second. The hostesses for the birthday meeting will be the committee. Another enjoyable meeting was then brought to a close.
