A very pretty early evening wedding was solemnised at St. Patrick’s Church, Broadway, on Wednesday, July 14, when Alary Evelyn, eldest daughter of Mr and Airs Edward Doherty, of I-fairanga, was married to William John, eldest son of the late Air E. Saunders and the late Mr 3 Chisholm. Rev. Father Doolaghty, a relative of the bride, officiated and the wedding music was played by Miss Spelman. The church had been tastefully decorated by Aliss AI. Spelman, a cousin of the bride. The bride was escorted by her father, and her beautiful frock was of magnolia aatin beauto cut on classical lines, the high neck line having a roll collar caught with a button, the back of tho bodice also being finished with buttons. The tight fitting sleeves came to a' point over the hands with a spray of orange blossom on the ouffs. The skirt formed a long flared train. Her beautiful hand-embroid-ered veil worn over the face fell from a cluster of white orchids, forming a train. Shoos were worn to match and a shower sheaf composed of lilies, freesias, and c.yclamen, intermingled with maidenhair fern, was carried. Airs R. A. Roulston, of Lower Ilutt. sister of the bride, acted as matron of honour, wearing a frock of cherry velvet cut on slim-fitting lines, nlso a cherry velvet tailored coatee with matching spray, a cap of cherry net and spray to tone, and shoes to match. She carried a bouquet of red and gold chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern tied with gold streamers. Little Bernice Doherty (youngest sister of the bride) and Moira Hughes (cousin of the bride) wero dressed alike in early Victorian frocks of cream velvet made with puff sleeves, Peter Pan collars, and buttoned down tho front to the waist line. Autiunn-toned flowers and gold leaves worn in the hair, gold shoes with autumn-toned flowers on the toes and a gold ribbon with a ball of wood pulp flowers hanging from the wrists, competed a pretty picture. Air R. A. Roulston was best man and Air .1. B. Hughes acted as usher.

After the ceremony a reception was held at Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame’s rooms, where about 150 guests were received by the bride's mother, who wore a, becoming dinner-gown of black phantom sheer dull-finished crepe, with accessories to match and a long string of crystals A spray of wood-pulp flowers was also worn. Assisting .her was Miss A. Saunders, aunt of the bridegroom, in a rust frock over which was worn a black fur coat, also a sprav of flowers to tone. The sprays of woodpulp flowers were made by Mrs \V. Harris, of Fitzhorbort West. Little Brian Hughes presented the bride with a lucky horseshoe. Miss Zita Loamy sang Gounod's “Avo Maria” during the ceremony at the church, while at the reception Miss Lcamy and Mr Whiteloek rendered songs. The usual toasts were honoured, Miss Lcamy presiding at the piano. The bride appeared for travelling wearing a rust tailored frock over which was worn a musquash fur coat, a nigger-brown spring hat trimmed with flowers, and a semi-stiff veil and accessories to match. Tho happy couple were the recipients of many beautiful gifts. Mr and Mrs W. J. Saundore will make their future homo in Woodville. Amongst those present were Mrs E. Bowo (Marbtiri) and Mrs M. S'pelman (Palmerston North), both great-aunts of the bride; Mrs IT. Holland (Ohau), aunt c.f the bride; Mr and Mrs .T. B. Hughes, Mr and Mrs J. Lynch, Mr and Mrs \V. Itoulston, and Miss I’, Houlston (Palmerston Nprth).
