MOTORMAN EXONERATED.

FAULTY WIRING OF TRAM. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, June 7. A statement that an examination of tram No. 18, which was involved in a fatal accident at Opoho recently and which last week developed a fault in the magnetic braking system, had disclosed a fault in the wiring connected with the brakes and that no blame for the accident could he attributed to anyone, was made by the chairman of the tramways committee, Mr W. Batchelor, at a meeting of the Citv Council to-night. Gratification was expressed by councillors that an inspection of the ear completely exonerated live motorman Mr Chapman, who had been acquitted on a charge of manslaughter in connection with the Opoho tram iatahty.
