MERGER OF COUNTIES.
ATTITUDE AT WANGANUI. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, June 7. Delegates of the Wanganui, Waitotara, Waimarino, Rangitikei and Patea County Councils conferred this morning regarding the amalgamation proposals and decided they were not in a position to suggest a scheme which would provide for a better system of efficiency, economy and community interest than that in force at present. They were not, hoy ever, unfavourable to the consideration of the amalgamation of small internal local bodies in each individual county.
