PAHIATUA, May 29. A recent meeting ot the Makomako Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs W. G. Eising. Miss E. Sowry contributed a song, Mrs A. C. Austin gave a report of the annual federation council meeting in- Masterton. Miss C. McKenny gave a lecture on diet, her subject being “Food value of milk.” The competition, “Menu for one day with milk as a basis,” was judged by Miss McKenny and won by Mrs C. McMurtrie, with Mrs Eising second and Mrs S. Hoklaway third. The .scores registered at the weekly shoot of the Makomako Miniature Rifle Club were: J. Day, 98—99—197; F. Ebbett, 98-99-197; 6. Day, 96-97—193; S. Iloldaway, 97—95—192; 'H. Eddie, 94 —96—190; G. K. Claris, 93—96—189; C. Garlick; 97—91—188; ,J. Garlick, 94—93 187; C. Eddie, 91—90-181; C. McMurtrie, 91—89—180; G. Atkinson, 90—89 179 ; A. Andrews, 89 —81 —170 ; J. Elwin, 78—78—156; G. Groves .78—70—148. The elements were kind to the Rugby enthusiasts on Saturday afternoon, when Mangatainoka- boat IConini by b points to 3. The scorers for the former wore McNeil,. Lett, and Rutherford, while Burns made the lvonini score.
