A petition signed by approximately 800 listeners in Hastings for tlie retention of the present broadcasting services in this district lias been handed to Mr E. L. Cullen, M.P., for presentation to the Minister of Internal Affairs. The petition is the outcome of a public meeting in Hastings, when an almost unanimous vote was cast in favour of the retention of the three Hawke’s Bay B class radio stations as against their purchase by the Government. Inquiries made this morning regarding the intentions of the management of the Hastings station, 2ZL, as regarding the offer of the Government tailed to elicit a definite announcement of a decision. It is understood that, though nominally the offer was open until to-day, there is no urgency in the matter and further time will be allowed for consideration and negotiation.
