CROQUET AT WANGANUI

The Wanganui Croquet Association’s annual fixture, in which play commenced on Monday, is progressing well. A feature of the tourney has been the defeat of A. J. Gibbs (Patea), New Zealand singles champion, by D. McClvmont (Wanganui), and W. Tve (Wellington). McClymont especially played splendid croquet, his cuts and shooting being very accurate. Games have included one between Mrs Caldow and Mrs R. D. Gnmbrill (P.N.), in the first section of the open championship, the former winning 26—8; and a contest between Mrs Gambrill and Mrs gourgeois in the first section of the handicap singles resulted in a win for the Palmerston North player, 26—24.
