WAIATA INSTITUTE.
The Waiata Women’s Institute mot recently at the home of Mm W. Turner. There was a good attendance, which was presided over by Mrs A. 0. Simpson. A demonstration was given on the art of pewter work by Miss M. Smith, of Dannevirkc, assisted by Miss Viles, and both had an interested circle of spcctatom, who accorded them a hearty vote of thanks at the finish of the demonstration. Mrs L. Portcli. a member of the institute who has recently returntd from a visit to the Homeland, gave a talk on the social life of the women of England, and she also was thanked. A competition for bottled fruit was won by Mis M. Brown first, Mrs Walker second and Mrs Mulholland third. Miss Viles and Mrs N. Pearce kindly acted as judges. The hostesses, Mrs Turner, Mrs Brown and Miss M. Brown, served afternoon tea and thanks were expressed to Mrs Turner for her hospitality.—Waiata correspondent.
