EPIDEMIC SUPERVENES. SUFFERING IN AMERICA. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copy right.) Received January 28, 1.5 p.m. CHICAGO, Jan. 27. The know'h dead in the flood areas total 137, and the homeless are at least eight hundred thousand. The property damage has exceeded three hundred million dollars. An epidemic of ihfluetiza and pneumonia is rampant, particularly in Louisville, where the Health Commissioner estimated that at least 200 have died of diseases attributable to the inundation. At Cincinnati the river is receding fractionally inch by inch from the high stage of 79.99 ft. reached yesterday. Evansville is under martial law and av'aits the crest of the flood, v'hich is expected on Thursday or Friday.
