RETURN FROM ABROAD.

MR H. F. VON HA AST. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec. 7. Accompanied by his wife, whom he married in England, Mr H. F. von Haast, of Wellington Pro-Chancellor of the University of New Zealand, returned from a trip abroad this morning. Fie represented New Zealand at the celebration of the centenary of the University of London, also at the Congress of the Universities of the British Empire at Cambridge, where he stayed with Lord Rutherford. In Canada he had an interview with a prominent King’s Counsel who was one of the isolationists at the British Commonwealth Relations Conference at Toronto in 1933, whose statement was that if the League of Nations failed that was the end og the British Empire.
