Tho report of the Imperial Shipping Committee on the possibilities of_ a British passenger and cargo service between Western Canada (Vancouver) and Australia and New Zealand was released by the Minister of Marine to-day and was released simultaneously is Great Britain, Canada, and Australia. The proposed service would be operated by two new ships comparable with the existing Matson liners and capable of operation at 21 knots, based on a monthly schedule calling at San Francisco, Honolulu, Suva, Auckland, Sydney, and Melbourne. The report says that to date the Matson Line has won not by cutting rates,but by superiority of amentities and speed. The cost of each ship to win hack passengers will he a million and a-quarter, with a life of 20 years.
