TWO CHALLENGES LODGED

OPPONENTS FOR MANAWATU

Challenges already are forthcoming to Manawatu for the Hawke Cup, and the cricket season promises to he most interesting. The Hawke’s Bay Association were first in the field with a challenge. Under the grouping system for Hawke Cup matches, Hawke’s Bay will meet Southern Hawke’s Bay in the elimina.tion series, which must be completed before Christmas. The Southland Association have also put in their claims for the cup, and are desirous of playing the match at Christmas or New Year. Southland were unsuccessful in their attempts to lift the cup in the 1934 and 1935 seasons.
