AW AH UR I, Sept. 28. A euchre and dance evening held by the committee of the Te- Iwa meet-ing-house proved very enjoyable and a substantial credit balance was shown on the venture. The supper arrangements were in the hands of Mesdanies O. Knowles and W. Ward, and the M.C. was Mr W. Ward. The card tourney resulted as follows: —Ladies, Mrs T. Rodgers (Bulls) 1, Mrs W. Knowles (Tiritea) 2; men, Mr Karlson (Awalniri) 1, Mr Trask (Palmerston North 2. During the supper adjournment Mr Ward, secretary of the committee, returned thanks to the gathering for their attendance. There was a fair attendance at the fortnightly series of card tourneys held for the purpose of raising funds for school requirements, last Thursday. The winners were: Highest score, Miss Humphries 1, Mrs Humphries 2; men, Mr H. Hancock 1. An enioyable evening was spent by their attending the gathering held by the Awahuri Qkl Pupils’ Association. The duties of M.C. were carried out by Mr I. Sutherland. The catering was in the hands of Mrs C. C. Lawrence, who was assisted by a willing band of helpers. The r esults of the various competitions were as follow: Card tourney, ladies, Mrs Haytliorne (Cameron’s Line) 1, . Miss' E. Tait (Tvai Twi) 2; men, Mr J. Austin (Awahuri) 1 and Mr L. B. McKinnon 2; spot waltz. Miss D. Matthews and Mr J. Nicholson; lucky Gay Gordons, Miss M. Dear and Mr Wheeler; Monte Carol, Mrs C. Lawrence and Mr Henson (Sanson); destiny spot waltz, Miss Hancock and Mr Iv. Whisker. Mr H. Bell (Palmerston North) rendered xylophone solos.
