NAVAL BATTLE
IN STRAITS OF GIBRALTAR

FIGHTING NEAR TOLEDO,
(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received September 30, 9.20 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 29. Reuter’s Tangier correspondent reports that a heavy cannonade was heard in the-Straits of Gibraltar at 7 a.m. The United Press correspondent at Tangier reports that there was a three hours’ battle between the rebel cruiser Almirante Cervera and the Government cruiser Almirante Ferrandez. One sent out an SOS call, but it is not known which ship was concerned. A later message says the liner Koutoubia, which is picking up the survivors of the naval buttle, reported that the Government Almirante Ferrandez has been sunk. Fighting continues on tho outskirts of Toledo. It has been officially announced that only 80 of the 1200 rebel occupants of the Alcazar were killed in tlic siege, with 500 wounded.
