Rev. J. Hubbard, M.A., R.D., of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, is spending a holiday in the Wa’kaio district.

Mr A. W. Duncan, until recently general manager of Dominion Motors, Ltd., has been appointed a director of J. R. McKenzie, Ltd.

Rev. V. C. Benimore, of St. Mink’s Church, Wellington, will take up ms duties at All Saints’ Church, Palmerston North, to-morrow, as assistant curate on loan for two nonths pending a permanent appointmy.it. Sir James Allen is shortly to be honoured by having liis portrait in oils presented to the National Art Gallery, Wellington, and a second similar one to his home city of Dunediu. The artist in both cases is Mr Archibald F Nicoll, of Christchurch. Mr E. B. Glanville, agricultural, instructor at Dargaville, ims received notice of his transfer to Wliangarei, where he will succeed Mr C. J. Hamblyn, who has been transferred to Palmerston North. Mr Glanville vrih be succeeded by Mr E. H. Arnild. instructor at Ruakura, Hamilton. Mr S. Freeman, fields instructor, Department of Agriculture, lias been appoint-ed Dominion organising seciotary of the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs. Mr Freeman, wlio has been stationed in Masterton for a number of years, has taken a live interest in the work u f young farmers’ clubs, and it is cue iargelv to his organising ability that the movement has made such i xcrtient progress in the Wairarapa. Cr. J. H. Redfern, who was elected a member of tho Dannevirke Borough Council at the last municipal elections, has resigned as he intends to reside in Palmerston North. AVlill the exception of a period of two years previously spent at Palmerston North, Mr Redfern ha.s been a resident of Dannevirke for about 40 years. He retired about nine years ago and came to Palmerston North, returning to Dannevirke about two years ago.
