SMUGGLING IN CHINA.
BRITAIN’S CONCERN. Received July 3, 8.5 a.m. LONDON, July 2. Viscount Granborne, in reply to several questions in the House of Commons, said the earliest opportunity had been taken of emphasising to the new Japanese Ambassador the serious view which the Government took regarding the smuggling of goods into China by Japanese subjects. The Government were at present considering what further steps they might usefully take to facilitate an early settlement of the matter.
