Messrs John and Harry Ellery loft on Saturday by motor for a short holiday in Napier. . . Tho directors of the Rangitikei Dairy Coy. Ltd., have decided to pay suppliers at the rate of 9d per lb. for March supplies of butterfat. Weather conditions were good on Saturday for shooting on the open range. Scores at 500, 500, .and 600yds were:— R. B. McKenzie, 31—35—34—100; A. Stevenson, 33 —35 —32—100; W. Jenkins. 33—33—31 97: H. Meads, 35-32-30 -97; P. Thorby, 33—31—32—96; L. Huddleston, 31—34—30 —95; F. Simpson, 28—31—31—90. Stevenson and Thorby tied for the Williams trophy (best score at 600yds), and in the shoot-off Thorby won with a “bull” to Stevenson’s 4. There will be no competition match next Saturday (Anzac Day), nor on tho following Saturday, members travelling to Levin to take part in the Hautere Rifle Association meeting there. BULLS, April 21. McKolvie, Mrs Collier v„ Mrs Mansell. Any member unable to play or any new membor not in the above draw is to notify Miss Levott. After five or six weeks of fine weather, light rain set in here during the weekend, and on Monday there were heavy downfalls in outlying parts of the district. Winter crops will be benefited, and pastures freshened up, while the water shortage has been relieved. Mr and Mrs F. C. Jurgens, of Ohutu, have come to Bulls to reside. Mr Jurgens was a prominent member of the farming community in tho Taihapo district, and took a keen interest in matters relating to farming. He was president of the Taihapo branch .of the Farmers’ Union, a position which he filled with credit to himself and to tho entire satisfaction of tho branch. Mrs Jurgens took a lively interest in social affairs of. the branch, and both . will be greatly missed in the Taihapo district.
