PRIMARY SCHOOLS.

SPORTS ASSOCIATION. Tlie annual meeting of the Palmerston North Boys’ Primary Schools Sports Association, was held recently. The annual report, reading as lollows, was adopted:;—The year opened with the ’ adoption of a new constitution and the subsequent election of a new executive under the new conditions. A full programme of the various sports was entered upon, the weather, however, causing some inconvenience and curtailment in some of the cricket- competitions. Under the new rules the Cunningham Shield was awarded to Terrace End. Alter the changing of the executive and the subsequent disorganisation of the Swimmipg Association, no junior swimming championships were held owing to the lateness of the season, but these will be held . this year. Winners of competitions were ::—Cricket, seniors, Central; juniors, Central; football, seniors, Convent and Terrace End, equal; juniors, Terrace End A; midgets. Terrace End A. Terrace End and Central are to be congratulated on their fine performances. Prior to the quadrangular tournament, a series of games was played against Oroua-Feilding, Te Kawau and finally against Horowhenua;,this latter game now becomes an annual fixture. The game this year resulted in a draw. Our representative team travelled to Masterton to take part in the annual quadrangular tournament, which resulted in a win for Wairarapa. Our thanks have been extended to the’ Wairarapa Association for the hospitality shown both our boys and their managers. Although Manawatu sent away a good team they were unfortunate in having their ranks depleted by sickness. No alteration is shown in the cricket account, but the football account with a credit balance of £ll 19s stl shows an increase over last year’s credit balance of approximately £4. The sub-commit-tee appointed to draw up the rules of the association has these ready for publication, but is still waiting to hea.r whether the Women Teachers’ Association is co-ordinating with the men in this respect. Deep regret was felt and the executive extended its sympathy to Mr Haydon and his family during their recent sad bereavement. To the Rugby Union, the Referees’ Association, to all those individuals who have given so much of their time and assistance to the furtherance of l>oys’ sport in the Mana.watu, and to those who so willingly assisted with the billeting of visiting bovs during the trial frames the executive tenders its thanks. In addition, the executive wishes to thank all eports masters who have given so much time towards coaching their boys. It is onlv with such co-operation and keenness that successful competitions can be arranged. The election of officers resulted: President. Mr McEwan ; chairman, Mr K B. Dawkins; secretary-treasurer, Mr L. E. Douds; delegate to Cricket Council, Mr Warwick; delegate to Ru<d>v Union, Mr Berry; auditor Mr Havdon; executive committee. Messrs Connor, Pryor, Warwick, ! Haydon, Dawkins, Brown and Merritt: CunI ningham Shield Committee Messis Jackson, Dawkins and Ponds.
