MONETARY POLICY
NO STATEMENT YET. . OTHER MAJOR BILLS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 12. Replying to questions on prospective legislation to-day, the Prime Minister (Hon. M. J. Savage) said that no detailed statement about the Government's monetary policy would be made before the Rill came down in the House, though -this did not mean that a statement on national finance and the general principles of the Government's policy would not he made before Parliament met. Tt was certain, however, that no details of the main financial measure would he disclosed before the Bill was introduced. Mr Savage said the Finance Bill would be introduced in the early stages of the session. Other important Bills would follow without delay. Altogether there would probably be six major Bills.
Tt is understood that among the matters to he dealt with in the initial legis'ation will he vital amendments to the industrial laws; the 40-liour week on public works to begin with; restoration of the wage cuts; guaranteed prices for dairy produce together with a marketing scheme; and railways construction.
