WEDDING.
CLARK—SWEETAI AN. An extremely pretty wedding in which wide interest was taken was celebrated at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Palmerston North, on Wednesday evening, December 11, when Ala vis Kathleen, only daughter of Air and Airs E. W. Sweetman, o! Palmerston North, was married to Robert Patterson Clark, son of Mr and Airs J. P. Clark, of Palmerston North. The officiating clergyman was Rev. J. Hubbard, while Air A. JGraham presided at the organ. - The church had been artistically decorated by girl friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, presented a dainty picture in her wedding gown of ivory lace, made very close-fititng, with a fully flared skirt from the knees. The neckline formed a cowl in the front and was clasped with a diamante clip, and a row of covered buttons extended down the back. The sleeves were very tight-fitting and were slightly rounded over the hands, and were finished with a row of covered buttons as far as the elbow. Her veil was of embroidered tulle and was worn with a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a sheaf bouquet of cream roses, carnations, lilies and maidenhair "fern. The bridesmaids in attendance were Aliss Rona Hargreaves (chief) and Aliss Pauline Kortegast, who wore pretty frocks fashioned alike, the former in blue, floral georgette and the latter in pink floral georgette, with close-fitting cape-sleeved bodices trimmed with knife jileating and fully flared skirts reaching to the ground. They wore beige straw picture hats trimmed with pink and blue velvet ribbon, and carried shower bouquets or pink roses, carnations, delphiniums and maidenhair fern. Thp little flower girl, Valda Hogg, wore a sweet frock of salmon crepe-de-chine made to the ground and finished with tiny rows of frills round the hem. The neck was slightly niched, and she wore a gailand “hf artificial flowers round her head and carried a posy of pink sweet peas and carnations. Th© bridegroom’s gifts to lhe bridesmaids were a diamante necklet each, and a silver armlet for the flower S *Mr Colin Tarr attended the bridegroom as best man, while Air Laurence Sweetman. -brother of the bride, acted as groomsman. The bride’s mother wore a black charmalaine ensemble. The frock was trimmed with rows of black and white spotted trillings, maiclied with a black and white straw hat, and she carried a posy of scarlet roses, carnations and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom’s mother wore a navy tailored costume relieved with a biscuit blouse and a navy straw hat, and wore a posy of scarlet roses, carnations and maidenhair fern. After the ceremony was over, 70 guests were entertained at Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame’s teaWhen Air and Airs Clark left later in the evening on their honeymoon the bride travelled in a frock of floral uncrushable crepe, with coat, hat and shoes to tone. The popularity of the young couple was shown by the crowd of ’ well-wishers who gathered at the station to wish them the best of luck and bon voyage. Tliey received many beautiful presents, including numerous cheques. Air and Airs Clark intend making their future home in Palmerston North.
