POHANGINA BOYS’ CAAIP. The end of December always holds the appeal of Christmas, but to a number of boys it also holds the added attraction of a four-weeks ’holiday camp held at Pohangina. On Boxing Day some 70 or 80 boys will pack up their old clothes, swimming togs, washing and eating gear, and set out by car for Camp Pohangina, where the Y.AI.C.A. will hold its twelfth annual summer camp. This camp is the answer to the problem of parents who wonder “just what to do with Jack” these holidays. Four weeks in the sun and fresh air of the well-known camp-site which nestles in luxuriant bush by the Pohangina River will set up any boy for the New Year. Every care is taken of the boys’ welfare by those in charge. The large cookhouse under the management of a professional cook ensures well-cooked and wholesome food; a first-aid officer attends efficiently to those cuts and bruises incidental to camp; electric lighting, board floors to the tents, and filtered water are further safeguards; while strict supervision is exercised as regards to swimming, camp bounds, discipline, etc. A wide range of activities i^.included in the camp programme—tramps, swims, athletics, overnight camps, papercluises, etc., all combine to fill a boy’s day with enjoyment and healthful recreation. In the evening, and in inclement weather, the large hut with its radio, its concertplatform, its indoor games, and its facilities for reading and writing, contributes materially to the enjoyment of the camp.
