SECONDARY INDUSTRY. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON. Nov. 21. Mr J. Hogg, the retiring president of the New Zealund Manufacturers’ Federation, in opening the Dominion conference, said a careful estimate showed that during the last twelve months 9000 workers had been absorbed into the manufacturing industries of New Zealand and 3000 the previous year, making 12,000 for two years. Industry, therefore, had contributed in no small measure to the solution of the unemployment problem. Only close co-ordination and understanding between both the primary and secondary industries, with proper recognition of the rights and requirements of each, could advance the future prosperity of the Dominion, Mr Hogg added.
