ASHHURST. Nov. 19.
Air P. Wilkin presided over a large attendance in the ball last firiday, when Air \V. Olliver, ihe Labour candidate for Oroua, outlined the Labour Party’s policy, the address being on the lines of his previous sp, eclics. ’The speaker was accorded a vote of thanks. A difficult changing front wind was experienced by the members of the Ashhurst Defence Rifle Club last Saturday, when a practice shoot was fired over the 300 yards and 600 yards ranges. J.»Searlo and S. J. Brookie registered a 34 and 33 respectively at the 300 yards. Despite the conditions, two 31’s were the beet at the 600yds. F. Locking and J. Fraser were two visitors from the Cheltenham Club, the latter being lately a member of a Dunedin club. Detailed scores are as follow; —S. J. Brookie, 33 —31—64; R. A. Jones, 50 —31—61, J. Scarle, 34—26 —60; F. Booking, 29—30 —59; J. Fraser, 25—27—52; AJ. Hausrnann, 22—29 — 51- G. Ralph, 17—20-37; R. Doreen, 16 — 18-34.
