EKETAHUNA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) EKETAHUNA, Sept. 25. The annual meeting of the Tennis Club was held last night in the Anglican schoolroom, Mr 11. E. Greathcad presiding over a large attendance of enthusiastic members. Apologies were received from quite a number through sickness. Nine new members were elected. The report and bal-ance-sheet, which showed a credit of £23 3s sd, were read and adopted. In moving their adoption, Mr Grcathead stated that the club was in a very satisfactory position and the prospects for its future wore bright, Owing to tho particularly long summer a great deal of play had been indulged in, and altogether last season had been a successful ono both socially and financially. Quite a number of games bad been played with visiting teams, and keen, interest and competition had been shown in the championship evonts. He concluded bv thanking the retiring officers for their willing help, special mention being made of Air Clarke, for the able manner in which ho had carriod out the duties of hon. secretary. Tho following were elected officers for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr J. S. Tripe (re-elected); president, Air H. E. Greathcad (re-elected); vice-presidents, Alessrs A. H. Herbert (re-elected), Henderson, and Father Swoonoy; men’s captain, Air J. Waters ■_ vice-captain, Mr K. Afaronzi; ladies’ captain, Aliss N. Grcathead (re-elected); secretary and treasurer, Air Clarke (rc-olectcd); committee, Alesdames Johnson, Hiekford, Clarke, Alisses K. Herbert, N. Remnant, P. O’Regan, Alessrs L. Parsons, G Stone-Wigg, C. Doney, D. Scott, and P. Quinlivan; auditor, Air G. Allen. The official opening will be held early in October. After discussing certain work to bo done, it was decided to leave the matter of improvements, alterations, and material required in the hands of the committee. The matter of junior membership was discussed at length and it was finally decided that the rules governing these members be strictly enforced.
