MANAWATU DAIRY SURVEY. COMMISSION RETURNING LATER. “Tentative arrangements have been made for tho appointment of two investigators, and they should bo able to commence their duties in about ten ■days’ time,” Sir Francis Frazer de-puty-chairman of the Executive Commission of Agriculture, informed a “Standard” representative, to-day, in connection with the economic survey which is to be made in the Manawatu dairying district at tho request of the large meeting of factory representatives held this week. Tho Commission, with a sub-com-mitteo of the Dairy Board, lias been visiting factories in the district since Wednesday. Sir Francis commented that they had been pleased at the progress made in obtaining preliminary information of a geenral nature. There had been a spirit of co-opera-tion evident, and. a keen desire manifest to help forward the industry. Messrs W. E. Halo (Hauraki Plains) and C. A. Merchant (Cardiff), of the Dairy Board sub-committee, returned North last evening, Mr A. Linton (Wairarapa), the other board member of the sub-committee, proceeding homo yesterday afternoon, l'he three members of the Executive Commission left Palmerston North this morning for Wellington, where they have numerous matters awaiting their attention. A ward conference and a Dairy Board meeting will be held thero next week. Sir Francis intimated that the Commission would probably return to Palmerston North shortly to complete their series of visits in the Manawatu district. Ho anticipated that the two experts being appointed, whose work would be of a detailed nature in examining balance-sheets and reducing them to common terms, would be engaged in their task for about a fortnight.
