PERSONAL.
The seventh Earl Beauchamp, Willianr Lygon, K.G., K.G.M.G., P.C., will arrive in Wellington from San Francisco via Tahiti and Rarotonga by the Makura on Monday morning. Constable A. B. Collinge, of the Palmerston North police, who has been stationed in this centre for a number of years, has received notice of his transfer to Auckland. He will not enter upon his new duties, however, till early in October.
At the conclusion of the Power Board and toupply Authorities conference, which was held in Wellington on Thursday and Friday of this week, Mr J. A. Nash, M.P., was re-elected president of the association. Mr Nash lias occupied this position from the inception of the association in 1923, and many eulogistic references were made to his past work and his chairmanship of the conferences.
Captain It. G. Briscoe, Conservative M.P. for Cambridgeshire since 1923, arrived at Auckland by the Mataroa from London last , night on a business visit. After spending two or three weeks in the Dominion he will proceed to Australia before returning to London. Prior to entering Parliament Captain Briscoe was attache at the British Embassy at Berlin; from 1924 to 1925 he was Parliamentary Private Secretary to Lord Moyne j then lit. Hon. Walter Guinness, who was Financial Secretary to the Treasury. He served in the same capacity from 1925 to 1929, when the Minister held the portfolio of Agriculture.
