TABLE TENNIS.
ASSOCIATION’S BANQUET. There was an attendance of over 100 at the third annual banquet and dance of the Manawatu Table Tennis Association this week. All tho clubs in the association were well represented. Mr P. lvriven presided and a short toast list was presented as follows: — “The King”; “The Ladies,” proposed by Mr G. AVagstaffe, Mr *L. Clark making the reply; “The Association,” Mr Robottom —Mr lvriven; “Donors of Trophies,” Mr Worsfold; “Winners of Trophies,” Mr 11. Watt —Mr G. Marshall. The following trophies were then presented: —A grade cup, Takaro; B grade cup, Hokowhitu A grade doubles, Takaro; ladies’ singles, Miss L. M. Hughes; ladies’ handicap singles, Miss L. Leask; men’s champion singles, R. Buchanan; champion doubles, R. Buchanan and C. H. McLaren; men’s open singles, D. McMurray; open doubles, R. Buchanan and C. H. McLaren; open handicap singles, G. Sykes; runner-up, T. Goldfinch; B grade champion singles, D. AV. Skinner. The floor was cleared and enhusiasts spent a happy time dancing to exexcellent music, with a programme of old time and modern numbers. The committee responsible for the gathering comprised: Messrs lvriven (chairman), C. Simms. R. Rowland, D. McMurray, G. Marshall, R. Pratt, D. Skinner, and C. H. McLaren (the secretarytreasurer). Messrs McLaren and Marshall ably fulfilled the duties of M.
