WHAKARONGO.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) WHAKARONGO, Sept. 4

A euchre tournament was played at Whakarongo on Monday night, when Aokautcre players visited Whakarongo to compote for tho shield. _ Again the local players were fortunate in being the winners, by 82 games to 71. Supper and dancing followed the cards. Mr G. Shannon returned from New Plymouth on Sunday. With tho return of tho cold weather, colds are very prevalent again. The homo of Mr and Mrs W. K. Woodd was the scene of a jolly party on Thursday night last, when many friends of Miss Ins Woodd gathered in honour of her eom-ing-of-ago. Miss Woodd was the recipient of many beautiful gifts. Dancing and games were indulged in, paper hats and masks were worn and a very pleasant time was spent.
